If you love walking into department stores and seeing (seemingly) acres and acres of women’s wardrobe to choose from – you can probably thank Queen Victoria for that. Prior to her reign as queen of England (1837 – 1901), the focus of fashion was aimed squarely at men and their purchasing power. But with a woman taking the throne, you better bet the media of her day took notice to what she was wearing. Like all cutting-edge fashion, what was seen in the public eye soon boiled down to everyday street wear. Women suddenly found themselves at the fashion forefront and 100 years later, the boys have yet to fully recover.  And speaking of boys…
