Elle Magazine recently posted their Comprehensive Guide to Spring 2016 Fashion Trends.  And as always, there is a mix of something old and something new in what the fashion Illuminati believe the rest of us will soon be wearing.  Not surprising is the prediction that 70’s inspired suede will work it’s way into more wardrobe next year.  After all, take a trip to your local Discovery or Forever 21 retail stores and you’ll continue to see plenty of hippy-inspired fashion under the guise of the words ‘boho’ and ‘reworked vintage.’

So what is surprising about Spring/Summer 2016?  Victorian-inspired designs. With layers upon layers of clothing with long sleeves, ruffled shirts with buttoned-up collars, and a general prim-and-properness to it all, Victorian era garb is about as diametrically opposed to hippy fashion as any one thing can be to another.  Reading this, you may have even conjured up visions of the ‘puffy shirt’ episode from TV’s Seinfeld and giggled a little. And yet, Victorian designs promise the same appeal as any other vintage/retro trend. It’s like Halloween all year long, and we get to play dress up again.  So to help move this trend forward a little, here’s our 4 fun facts about Victorian garb that you probably never knew…
